South Africa-based Zimbabwean model, musician and songwriter, Vanessa Sibanda aka Queen Vee, has featured one of South Africa’s award winning rappers Da L.E.S, (real name Leslie Mampe) on her latest single titled, You Should Never Leave.

NewsDay caught up with Da L.E.S in Johannesburg during the video shoot which was done over the weekend at the popular Nelson Mandela Bridge in Johannesburg, South Africa. Da L.E.S said he was excited to be working with Sibanda.

“I am super-excited about featuring on Queen’s video. It’s fun working with her because I know she is talented and has the energy. The track is a warm and loving song so Vanessa will be my queen and I will be her king,” said Da L.E.S.

Da L.E.S has been in the music industry for years and is one half of South Africa’s successful group, Jozi, the other half being Ishmael of the Roba le teka fame. Da L.E.S has worked with America’s Brick and Lace, Africa’s 2 Face Idibia, Taygrin and Buffalo Souljah.

The highly anticipated high-budget music video is being recorded and produced by Zimbabwe’s dance-hall ambassador, Buffalo Souljah’s United Nations of Africa record label.

This will be Queen Vee’s second music video after releasing the successful, Hey Lover video recently.

The video is already receiving airplay on Channel O, MTV Base and Africa Magic, and is frequently played in the Big Brother Amplified house while the audio track is receiving airplay from Power Fm.

Besides the You Should Never Leave music video, Queen Vee also shot another music video titled Do Me on Sunday. She told NewsDay during the video shoot that she had written the lyrics for the track which was about urging people to mind their own business.

“Whenever you are on your way to the top, there are always elements that are destructive that will try to get in the way to make you lose your focus. On the track, I will be encouraging people to be objective and focus on reaching their own goals. ‘You do you I do me’,” said Sibanda.

Souljah said Queen Vee’s album would not be released anytime soon as they were working on releasing her music videos first.

“The music industry has changed, so we are going the international way of launching music, so we are promoting her music videos first as people identify better with videos. With time, we will release the whole album,” said Souljah.
