Zimbabwean football players have suddenly become hot cakes here.

Black Mambas midfielder Brian Abbas Amidu is posed to join South African Premier Soccer League side Moroka Swallows while Young Warriors captain Qadr Amini is likely to sign on the dotted line with giants Orlando Pirates on Monday.

The deals come amid the imminent arrival of two other Zimbabwean defenders Gilbert Banda and Gilbert Mapemba at Platinum Stars. The pair is expected in this country on Monday.

The duo’s manager Edzai Kasinauyo confirmed: “Yes, the players are coming here for trials at Platinum. The team said they wanted to look at the players. I hope they will make the grade at the club.”

Reports here also suggested that Amidu has also attracted Pirates who are ready to pounce if Swallows decide otherwise.

Gunners owner Cuthbert Chitima also confirmed that they were negotiating with Pirates over the services of Amini, but did not want to divulge more details.

But a source at Pirates said: “Amini’s deal is as good as done. The chairman (Irvin Khoza) was impressed by the player and there is nothing which will stop him coming to our club. Amini is a good player with all the qualities of a bright future.”

Meanwhile, Warriors hotshot Knowledge Musona is Germany-bound.

Amakhosi general manager Bobby Motaung confirmed with the Sunday World of the imminent departure of his team’s most prized asset.

“We could lose Musona to the German league next season, so we need to strengthen our team,” said Motaung.

On Sunday, KickOff.com revealed the name of the German club that’s interested in signing Chiefs star striker

Musona as TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Amakhosi have been coy over discussing the matter before an offer is put on the table, but our source has suggested that Hoffenheim are likely to put in an offer sooner rather than later.

“Musona is going to a club called TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and he will go to the club to check the facilities, to see if he likes the place,” revealed the source.

“The German club has appointed Mike Makaab to represent them during the negotiations,” he adds. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim finished 11th in the Bundesliga last season.
