The Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Media Holdings, publishers of NewsDay, Raphael Khumalo, has been retained as the Media Publishers’ representative for the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe, a body that strives to create an environment promoting professional and ethical practices in the fraternity.

Also retained is the group’s head of magazines Davison Maruziva, who returns as the representative of the Zimbabwe National Editors’ Forum.

The new executive takes over from the previous one chaired by Harare mayor Muchadeyi Masunda. The new leadership is chaired by Alec Muchadehama, a human rights lawyer who has stood for the rights of journalists in Zimbabwe for years.

He is deputised by Bornwell Chakaodza, former editor of The Standard and The Herald. Other members of the executive include journalists Chris Chinaka, Edna Machirori, Tapfuma Machakaire and Tawanda Majoni.
