Zifa president Cuthbert Dube last night paid tribute to the Warriors following their 2-1 win over Mali in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier two weeks ago, which put Zimbabwe back in contention for a place in the finals.

In a statement, Dube said victory would inspire the nation for the remaining two games against Liberia at home in September and Cape Verde Islands away in October.

“The victory over Mali should inspire the whole nation to render maximum support to the Warriors and the association. Our business partners should find reason in walking and working with football. I am passionately asking for sponsorship from the corporate world and government as we are rapidly cleaning up our house.

“Results speak for themselves; preparations for Liberia and Cape Verde are already underway and I appeal to the nation to support the Warriors when we play at home in September against Liberia.

“The association would also like to dedicate the victory against Mali to the fans; they came out in numbers to pack Rufaro with their vociferous chorus and supported in a disciplined manner throughout the match; they were drawn from all ethnic groups demonstrating the beautiful game’s power to unite a nation.”
