Zim firms to take part in Zambia International Trade Fair

Several Zimbabwean companies will this year take part in the 47th edition of the Zambia International Trade Fair that will be held under the theme “Innovation for Competitiveness”.

The fair is a multi-sectoral show which will take place in Ndola from June 29 to July 5. Ndola is Zambia’s second-largest city and is the commercial and industrial hub of the Copperbelt province.

Zimtrade in a statement on Thursday said each year, various companies from Zambia, the region and overseas showcase their products and services at the international trade fair to reach potential clients and create business partnerships for enhanced sustainable growth.

“Participation at this trade fair has been increasing every year indicating the increasing growth opportunities on the Zambian market. In 2010, a total of 629 participants were recorded representing a 20% increase from the previous year. Fifteen countries represented by 87 companies participated at the fair.

The Zambian market presents opportunities for a wide range of products produced and manufactured by Zimbabwean companies.

“Participation in this event will provide an opportunity to showcase the following products among others to potential Zambian buyers and investors; mining equipment and supplies, household and electrical goods, hardware, processed foods and beverages, building and construction materials, agricultural equipment and inputs, pharmaceuticals, printing and packaging materials,” said ZimTrade.

Last year, Zimbabwe’s exports to Zambia totalled $120 million while imports were worth $90 million reflecting a trade balance of $30 million in Zimbabwe’s favour.

The trade fair will therefore present an opportunity to increase market share in Zambia and further enhance trade with that country.
