It never rains but pours for former Warriors fitness trainer and commercial farmer Temba Mliswa who Wednesday appeared in court on a fresh charge of extortion.

He is accused of allegedly extorting his former employee’s daughter of $1 600 two months ago. However, Mliswa who is represented by Charles Chinyama is denying the allegations.

Mliswa was summoned to appear before Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei but the trial failed to proceed after prosecutor Rufaro Mazvimbakupa requested for time to study the docket and the matter was postponed to May 21.

Mliswa is accused of initially causing the arrest of Theunis Lewis Botha and his wife Wollemiena Doratiena who once worked at his Spring Farm in Karoi as mechanic and administrator respectively.

The State alleges Mliswa at one point accused Doratiena of misappropriating $4 661 in 2009 and caused her arrest but later withdrew the charges after Doratiena’s son promised to compensate him.

It is alleged the couple later resigned from working for Mliswa and settled in Harare, but when Mliswa met Botha at Hellensville shopping centre in Harare, he set the police on him again telling them they were on Karoi police’s wanted list.

The State alleges Botha’s daughter, Beryl Evelyn Saunders, learnt of her parents’ arrest again and visited Borrowdale Police Station where she was told her parents could only be released on Mliswa’s instruction.

It is alleged Saunders met Mliswa who then demanded that she pay him $2 000 for the release of her parents and Saunders paid $1 600 and promised to pay the balance in a week’s time.

The State alleges armed with documentary proof that she paid Mliswa money for her parents’ release, Saunders approached deputy officer in charge of Borrowdale police seeking her parent’s release but was again asked to bring Mliswa with her.
She reportedly approached Mliswa who asked her to sign acknowledgement of the balance following which they proceeded together to the police station leading to the release of Botha and his wife.
