Old Georgians will dedicate their Lion Lager National Rugby League match against Air Force Saturday to their former player Andrew Majaha who passed away on Monday.

Majaha, a talented 21-year-old scrumhalf who had established himself at the league’s defending champions, passed away on Monday from injuries sustained in a car accident on Thursday last week. He was buried on Thursday at the family’s rural home in Honde Valley and Old Georgians’ player-coach Grant Mitchell, along with four other players, attended the burial.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport, Mitchell said: “Obviously the players were devastated after receiving the news of the tragic loss of Majaha as the players were very fond of him as he had managed to earn the respect of the whole team in such a small space of time.

“This is why we have dedicated tomorrow’s (today’s) match against Air Force to Majaha and as a team we have decided that all the emotions will be channelled towards this match.”

Old Georgians are currently perched in pole position on the National Rugby League.
