A week after handing Highlanders their first league defeat in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, former champions Monomotapa will adopt a cautious approach when they face off with money bags FC Platinum at Maglas on Saturday afternoon.

Monomotapa manager Clayton Munemo said despite the victory over Highlanders they were still fine-tuning the team.

“We are preparing for the tie against FC Platinum and there are no injuries in the team. We are approaching the match with a cautious mind. “We won against Highlanders but there are areas we are still working on,” he said.

He said it would be a tough battle because of the quality of players in the Zvishavane-based club.

“We respect FC Platinum because they have very good players. Our team is composed of youngsters and we hope they will not panic against the experienced players,” he said.

Tapiwa Mafunga, Obey Mwerahari, Hillary Mugoniwa, Tawanda Munyanduri and Knowledge Machona are some of the players in the Monoz line-up, which also includes Makai Kawashu, former Kiglon striker Osborne Mukuradare, Malvern Dumbura and former Bantu Rovers hitman Mkhululi Moyo.

Benjamin Moyo-coached FC Platinum- side will be searching for the vital three points after winning their first match against Shooting Stars in the season opener.

A win would set the stage for an intriguing battle against Dynamos next Wednesday.

FC Platinum will rely on the experience of Thabani Kamusoko, former Gunners striker Norman Maroto, Brighton Dube and former Highlanders striker Francis Kanda.

The platinum miners have in their books defender Zephaniah and Joel “Josta” Ngodzo while former Highlanders midfielder Menard Mupera and Bhekimpilo Ncube are in midfield.

Defenders Norman Togara, Brighton Dube and Daniel Vheremu have the task of shutting out Monomotapa while the goalkeeper’s position should be a toss between Nengomasha Muranganwa and Tafadzwa Dube.
