Sometimes you are so much inundated with the pressure of the voluminous and cumbersome goals you set for yourself.

Sometimes you are so much inundated with the pressure of the voluminous and cumbersome goals you set for yourself. Column by Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

As you embark on the journey of life desiring progress and advancement you may be intimidated by the heavy load you are carrying which seems to take all the courage and strength from you.

The mountain before you is so imposing that you decide to retire from your race and surrender to fate. When faced with such inexplicable opposition many people give up hope and ignorantly assume the future will bring better prospects.

You may be physically normal, but mentally and spiritually crippled that unless you receive therapy in your spirit and mind you are heading nowhere. When you face the life being described here, that’s when you have to start working things out from exactly where you are standing in life.

Many times we are always waiting for the future and never realise that the future is in the present. You know that today is the tomorrow you were waiting for yesterday.

Procrastination coupled with laziness will cause you not to attend to small issues in your life. These small things will graduate into mammoth tasks.

Let us all do what we have to do in our time so that we don’t leave more, bigger, worse and more complicated problems for our children and the generations to come. Remember the saying: “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.”

Although this is quite debatable, the good thing it does is to make you aware that you have to live a life that future generations will not have to use double the force to solve problems that you could have solved with minimum force. Remember we are the ancestors of future generations.

Probably, you have no clue as to where and how to start in order to have a better future. The starting point of course is to be born again because there is no meaning to life outside Jesus Christ. Life can only have full meaning according to the Maker’s specifications.

You should read the Bible daily and accept and believe what it says. Your perception and appreciation of the way forward will be clearer. Psalm 119:130 declares, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.” With the backing of the Word of God you will have focus.

Begin to address the small things that you can. Don’t look at what you cannot, but what you can. When you begin to address issues at your entry point you will realise that all the problems were resting on simple principles and shaky foundation.

I know people lie to themselves saying they will start helping the needy, give tithes and offerings and support the preaching of the Gospel of Christ when they get salary increment or more tenders and contracts.

Be corrected by Luke 16:10 which says, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” The principle is that big things are made up of small things. You know that a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.

Don’t despise humble beginnings. Do well as a housemaid, garden boy, clerk and as a servant and the Lord will lift you up. Someone is watching you and has been commanded by God to take you to the next level. Don’t run away from problems, face them and overcome step by step. God assures His guidance in Psalm 37:23 which reads, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”

Develop a right mindset and good attitude. A skyscraper is one brick multiplied. Whatever mammoth task that is before you, knock it down with small and simple positive steps. Become a multimillionaire or billionaire from one dollar.

One Bible verse read, received and acted upon can change your life. It can bring healing to your body, soothe your soul and get you to heaven. Use the resources you have, especially time.

The more you stare at the problems of life without stepping out to deal with them the more they accumulate and appear fearsome. Start from where you are in your own way and bring down giants. Everyone that’s great in life started somewhere.

I leave you with these questions. Do you want God to multiply what you are currently doing? If He halts the increase of the problems you are facing are you doing anything that He can multiply? You know zero multiplied by any number remains zero. Start from where you are; you are going somewhere.

All Scripture quotations are from the King James Version of the Bible.
