Rising Midlands gospel musician Emmanuel Mukoroverwa has challenged gospel musicians to embrace unity and collaboration as part of efforts to uphold a legacy of hope, faith, and trust in God.
Mukoroverwa said Zimbabwe’s gospel industry, particularly in Gweru, had been shaped by influential musicians and ministers who laid a strong Christian foundation for upcoming generations.
“Christianity is a cultural movement that we should continue in honour of our great forefathers,” he said.
“Unlike some provinces and cities that are often associated with social vices, Gweru has earned a good reputation as a home of Christianity.
“We have musicians and ministers of the Word such as Mthabisi Mhere, Mechanic Manyeruke, Mai Charamba and many others who built a strong platform for us to continue spreading the Gospel fearlessly.
“These pioneers should be honoured by ensuring that the great work they started continues without fading away.”
Mukoroverwa said every generation had a responsibility to preserve the true spirit of Christian brotherhood and remain committed to genuine ministry.
“In this era where there is a growing trend of diluted Christianity, marked by a shift from traditional teachings to commercialised gospel preaching, many churches are now focusing more on wealth and riches than salvation,” he said.

“Only those who remain genuine and committed to the true calling of ministry are assured of a rewarding ending.”
The Hossana hit-maker also urged Christians not to abandon biblical teachings and church values in pursuit of prophecies and material promises.
“To remain joyful in ministry, there is no need to chase after prophecies and empty promises because some of these teachings are clear signs of the end times,” he said.
Mukoroverwa said unity among gospel musicians and churches was critical in strengthening the Christian faith and inspiring communities through music and the Word of God.
