Alleged plot unveiled: Mwonzora accused of assembling thugs to attack Komichi

Mwonzora denied the allegations, dismissing them as baseless rumors designed to tarnish his reputation. He stated, "That's rubbish. We do not have anyone in the MDC planning to attack Komichi because we harbor no ill feelings towards him.

There are widespread allegations surrounding the president of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC Alliance), Douglas Mwonzora, who is believed to be mobilizing thugs to attack former party Senator Morgen Komichi.

An insider leaked this information, revealing that the plan is to damage Komichi if he attends the launch of the National Electoral Reform Agenda (NERA) as the Acting President of the MDC party. The NERA launch ia scheduled for 23 March in Harare.

An individual who requested to remain anonymous, confirmed the plot, stating that Mwonzora is currently pulling together a group of thugs with the intention of targeting Komichi at the upcoming event.

"Albert Chidhakwa (Youth Chairman) was assigned to mobilise the thugs in Epworth and he has been seen paying cash to those thugs in advance to damage Komichi if he attends the NERA launch as the Acting President of MDC," said the reliable source.

In an effort to present both sides of the story, this publication reached out to both Mwonzora and Komichi for their comments.

Mwonzora denied the allegations, dismissing them as baseless rumors designed to tarnish his reputation. He stated, "That's rubbish. We do not have anyone in the MDC planning to attack Komichi because we harbor no ill feelings towards him.

"Komichi is irrelevant in Zimbabwean politics, and there is no reason for us to resort to violence. These are blatant lies meant to smear my name."

When asked about these alleged plots, Komichi seemed unaware of any such intentions but confidently asserted that he has no fear, even if there were plans against him.

"I am not aware of the situation, but even if Mwonzora is plotting something against me, I am not scared. I will never be intimidated by anyone. I am determined to revive MDC and make it great again". Komichi stated with conviction.

Drawing attention to a similar incident that unfolded in Harare last year, local newspapers revealed that Boaz Mangamiso of the Mwonzora MDC faction disrupted Komichi during a press conference, where Komichi was declaring his position as the Acting President of MDC because had failed a once Great Opposition Movement.

This incident demonstrates a historical rift between the two individuals, but it does not provide concrete evidence regarding the current allegations.

Whether or not Mwonzora is truly plotting to attack Komichi remains uncertain.
