The simplicity of the Scriptures

Sometimes we are calling on God now and again to give us a new instruction or Word. This may trap us if we are not doers of the Word but hearers only. We know the dictum; God’s next instruction is as good as the last unfulfilled instruction.

WHILE it’s necessary to get more understanding and insight, it’s wise to use knowledge already at our disposal. Wisdom does not gather knowledge and insight to lock away but uses every bit and piece it has in its storage. We are on the homestretch of the calendar year where many are checking how they have fared against New Year resolutions. Sometimes we erroneously accuse ourselves of lacking widespread and deep knowledge whereas wisdom will suggest that if we apply the knowledge we have, we will be able to solve our current challenges, problems or issues.

Sometimes we are calling on God now and again to give us a new instruction or Word. This may trap us if we are not doers of the Word but hearers only. We know the dictum; God’s next instruction is as good as the last unfulfilled instruction.

Let’s do every word we have step by step. As human beings we have the tendency of thinking that we need some complicated, high sounding and ginormous word to go to the next level. No, on a linear path, it’s as simple as turning right, left or going straight that gets us to the destination. Let’s do the Word. As Word based and guided believers, we are going to efficiently and effectively use the Word.

Many have been deceived and manipulated because of wanting something complicated. They don’t want the simplicity that is in the Bible. Unfortunately and painfully, some have been initiated into satanism because they travelled all over seeking deliverance which they already had by virtue of being saved. Romans 10 is the foremost portion of the Bible that deals with salvation.

However, many received the life of Christ at the preaching of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Let’s start from this seemingly “shallow” verse and see how we can grow without being duped by con-preachers.

We need to know that if we are saved from death to life, darkness to light and from the kingdom of satan to the Kingdom of God then we are safe. The devil, therefore, has no hold on us and we don’t need deliverance beyond what Christ did by coming into us at salvation. Do we see this in John 3:16?

We received everlasting life. This is important because if we know that we are forever saved then we will be eternally secure. This gives us peace with God and we will enjoy rest. We won’t be asked to sow a seed for eternal life. It’s good to know that we are not going to perish because we have everlasting life or unending life.

The unending life we have is not ours but the life of the resurrected Christ. When we pray on this verse, we are often led to such verses as the following.

Hebrews 7:25, “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”

It’s clear now that the new life is not ours which means we did not give Jesus any life but we received His life. It continues to open up that God gave. We did not pay nor did we do anything to receive eternal life. Therefore, it’s not based on our performance or so called good deeds.

If we’re not in a hurry but willing to learn from the Holy Spirit, we will not be tossed up and down by the winds of doctrine. God so loved the unserved world. I repeat, God so loved. He did not just love, He so loved.

We read Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” So we know that God loved us before salvation. This is Good News. Now that we are saved, we are in His love all the time. Suppose someone tells us that we are not receiving answers for prayers because God is angry with us. We won’t entertain such nonsense.

If Jesus came into us while we were dead in our trespasses, we are assured that we have fellowship with God the Father all the time. If there’s anything we want, we can talk to Him and we don’t need any steps or certain keys to the heart of the King.

We choose to keep it simple as the Father chose it. Someone may tell us we don’t have enough faith or we have belief issues. The verse we are zeroing in on, John 3:16, tells us we believed and got saved. We are not doubters.

If there’s anything we want, we’re going to use the communication channel opened by the coming of Jesus into us. Any questions we have are going to be addressed to God the Father and we are going to always except Him to speak to us through the medium He used to save us, that is, His Word.

This means that anytime we want to hear the voice of God, we open our Bibles and be willing to listen. We are going to be in humility and sincere obedience as little children and we are not going to allow man-made laws and traditions come between us and God. Jesus opened the Way and we’re going to use it or His name.

My question in closing will be, how many verses do you know? How many are you doing and not just hearing? Do you think you are perishing for lack of knowledge or you need to use the knowledge you already have to enjoy victorious Christian living.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
