LOCAL youths have been urged to better understand global issues affecting their age group to promote peace and build the future they envisage.

This came out during an African Youth Leaders International Diplomacy Conference (AYLDC) held in Ethiopia attended by several youths from Zimbabwe.

AYLDC chairperson Daniel Zinyama said the conference provided a platform for young Africans to be more engaged on global issues and play an active role in shaping their future.

"It provided a platform for young Africans to voice their concerns, exchange ideas, and build bridges of understanding. The conference fostered intercultural dialogue and promoted mutual respect amongst a diverse youth group," Zinyama said.

"It also encouraged young people to become more engaged in global issues and to take an active role in shaping the future of our world and continent. Overall, I believe that the conference was a powerful tool for promoting peace and youth participation in policy-making for national and continental development"

The conference brought together over 200 young leaders from across the continent to discuss leadership, diplomacy, and international relations.

The mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abebe, and Minister of Women and Social Affairs Ergoge Tesfaye also attended the conference and underscored the importance of youth engagement in shaping Africa's future.
