Twelve-year-old musician Daniella Chavarika has released a debut single titled Maybe, whose production was arranged by her father as a birthday present.

Daniella, a Grade 7 pupil, is also a songwriter who specialises in R&B as well as gospel genres.

According to her father Tendai Chavarika, the youthful singer has a soothing voice and mature lyrics that are well beyond her age.

“She chose these genres as she believes slower beats allow people to hear the words and communicate her message more clearly,” said Chavarika.

“Her songs are inspired by life experiences and everyday situations.”

He said her daughter’s love for music started at the age of eight when she was singing covers of her favourite artists around the house and anywhere else she got the chance.

“A few weeks before her 12th birthday she composed her first original song which forced me to quickly arrange for her to record on her birthday,” Chavarika said.

The single was eventually released on September 30, 2021 and was produced by award-winning singer and producer Audius  Mtawarira.

Mtawarira described the teenage sensation as “a rare talent whose perception musically is not a common thing”.

Sound producer Herman Chimusoro said: “When she first opened her mouth in the studio, my jaw dropped. She is what we call pitch perfect.”

However, Daniella according to her father, remains an unassuming 12-year-old whose immediate focus is passing her Grade 7 examinations, which commences at the end of next month.

The song is available on online music platformas including You Tube.

With early steps formed so well, one can only imagine what the future holds in the industry both locally and aboard.
