AWARD-WINNING rapper and Promoter Noble Stylz has 'kicked off' a rap battle initiative dubbed the Bars to Bars National rap league.
The initiative is a continuation from the For The Culture which started last year held at Moto Republik and went on to promote a lot of new artists and brands — leading to Masofa Panze, the parent brand winning the best hip hop promoter at the Zim Hip Hop awards.
Bars for bars' inaugural edition was held at Moto Republik in the Dodger Dome on Saturday.
The Dodger Dome was erected at Moto Rebuplik in honour and appreciation of the works done by the late blogger, writer and hip hop enthusiast Donald Dodger Marinde.
Rap battles are a form of hip hop where two or more rappers compete against each other by trading insults and boasts in the form of rhymes. Rap battles are often spontaneous and improvised, and very competitive.
"For the Culture is an initiative we started last year, which incorporated everything hip hop and landed us the best promoter title at the ZimHip Hop awards," said Noble Stylz.
"So now we're scaling up to further decentralise art and give ownership back to the communities that churn out these talents.
"Ubuntism says I am because we are, so for every success story, there is a community that moulded the superstar. "The Bars to Bars Rap League is here to honor those hoods that bring out the talent" he added."
The inaugural battle was between Hatcliffe and Mabvuku, which ended in a stalemate after five hours of non-stop rap and rebuttals.
Noble Stylz added that there shall be different divisions, from the grassroots(hoods) to inter city battles.
Masofa Panze and Noble Stylz will partner with King Russ in the rap battles that will resume on December 10 as they look to scale up the initiative into the next year.
