A ZIMBABWEAN couple based in Namibia has teamed up to create a musical album titled The Black Budget.
Loneson Mondo teamed up with his wife Freeda, a producer, to come up with the 10-track album.
The tracks are Crank Up The Fire (hip-hop), Dzikama (Afro-pop), Hands Off Remix (Dancehall), Hands Off (Afro-pop), Magate (Afro-pop), Mashed Up (Hip-hop), Sunday to Sunday (Afro-pop), Ten Thousand (Afro-pop), Two by Two (Afro-pop) and Wangu (Afro-pop).
“It’s a family project we started working on in 2017; I did the audio and visual productions, while my wife did the productions,” Mondo said.
“She is an award-winning producer who has scooped awards from Channel O, Kora, Sanlam Music and NAMA.
“We have premiered nine videos on YouTube and on television channels and we have signed an agreement with JIVE in Zimbabwe to have the album on Buddie Beats.”
Mondo added that he finds inspiration from lived experiences.
“I get inspiration from social issues that surround families, our lived experiences and what we see in the communities we live in and interact with,” he said.

“Love forms the greatest part of the energy that drives us as a couple when we compose and produce our music.”
Mondo said that the album is his debut and under the family owned studio.
“This is my first album and I saw it fit to work with my wife as the only producer at our family owned studio, Billionaire Sound Production Studios, and we hope to work with more producers and more artistes in the future,” he said.
Mondo revealed that his family faced a dilemma on which album to release first among him, his wife and their children.
The family later settled for Mondo’s since he had composed and produced his work earlier than the others.
