THE creators of Ngoma Republic freestyles have described their initiative as a medium for youthful musicians to amplify their stories through music.
The freestyle sessions are shown on social media Ngoma Republic, hosted by Yo Plug Zw and Bigtune JMP and visuals done by Big Red.
Popular dancehall producer JMP Jipe, who is one of the hosts of the freestyle sessions, said the initiative is a medium for expression.
“The aim is to help capture and amplify the stories of those who wish to share their experiences and the majority of the youth we interact with chose music as a medium of expression,” he said.
“This is a movement where art meets science, but if you are to try putting us in one of the traditional boxes, the three intersecting boxes would be a media production firm, a digital marketing firm or a consultancy firm. We focus on providing holistic experiences for those who interact with our mediums or ourselves.
“We have been building capacity and retooling over the years and this has allowed us to expand our capabilities to include various other mediums such as skits, adverts, jingles, videos, still pictures and now Ngoma Republic Freestyles in its current form,” said JMP.
JMP added that the concept came about as a way to document budding artists’ journey to stardom.
“The concept of freestyles itself is not new to us or those who have been in our spaces nor is the concept of capturing them.

The current sessions in their forms came about as a need to provide a platform for our new acts, as a way to document their journey to stardom, as a way to further build all the brands involved, build our acts ability to entertain in different environments whilst also showcasing our various skills to those who would be interested in mutually beneficial arrangements,” he said.
They have captured freestyles on Alkebulani, Tng Khamkadzi, Flexy H Mukurupfungwa, Mr Retreat Nyamambabvu and Digo Vybz.
JMP also urged business entities to engage them and advertise their products on their platform.
