Dynamos waiting for bus from Chivayo

The talk this whole week was the pledge by Wicknell Chivayo to buy Dynamos a  US$200 000 bus but on condition that they beat Caps United in the Harare derby.

This was the talk everywhere and it helped in the build up to one of the biggest derbies in Africa football involving Zimbabwean teams, Caps United and Dynamos.

This came after a Dynamos fan on a radio phone in call programme appealed if not begged Chivayo to buy his team a modern-day bus.

Although Dynamos have a bus, it is still no longer fit to take the team for matches — considering the changing times — but is still good enough to take the players for training.

The fan was touched that his team was travelling old fashioned when other teams — all over — were travelling in classy and in the modern world.

What we find difficult to understand is how a team as big and as popular as Dynamos could sink so low for a fan to see and feel touched by their plight ?

What exactly is wrong with Dynamos that they cannot afford basics like a team bus considering the sponsorship deals they have been through and the excess from gate takings ?

Did anyone at Dynamos speak to Sakunda Holdings about having a Sakunda Holdings and Dynamos branded bus and what was the response ?

Surely, with the huge benefits involved Sakunda Holdings would not have said no to such a deal had they been approached — but that does not happen at Dynamos.

Moreso. There are so many 'would have been' corporate partners who would have been quick to jump in to join Dynamos on such a journey — but what did Dembare do about it ?

What surely is the business that Dynamos leaders have been or are into that they cannot exploit the open business opportunities that stand right in front of them ?

Even the new executive headed by Vincent Chawonza has been promising that a bus was on its way and that promise has been overtaken by Chivayo.

Chivayo has taken advantage of the opportunity presented to play his tribal  balancing game of chess after also buying Highlanders a bus.

With all the gate takings that come their way, Dynamos should have been living in luxury but right now, they do not own even a wheelbarrow.

They are like the too many of our so-called businessmen in our football who do not even have a poster that says "Airtime For Sale Here."
