Neliswa Dlamini’s 20th-second goal was all Hardrock FC needed to reach the maiden Munhumutapa Cup Round of 16, as they edged Kwekwe United FC at Chahwanda Stadium on Saturday.
Hardrock FC quickly asserted their intention to win this Kwekwe derby, their first meeting in a competitive space. It took them just 20 seconds to hit the target through Eswatini international Dlamini.
Kwekwe United hardly threatened Hardrock FC goalkeeper Martin Mapisa.
They could have doubled their scores early in the second half when Thubelihle Mavuso won them a penalty after he was hacked down in the box.
However, Washington Navaya missed, hitting the upright and Wilfred Madzungu missed the target on the rebound.
Hardrock FC coach Kelvin Kaindu said winning a cup match, a derby against Kwekwe Derby, was difficult but his team won despite a poor display.

"Winning a cup match is always difficult, We didn’t play well today, but the most important thing is that we got the result and we are through to the next round."
His counterpart Tendai Chikuni was disappointed, saying the officiating was poor.
"I’m disappointed with the result and with the officiating,"Chikuni said. “There were decisions that did not go our way and that affected the game."
