KADOMA-based fitness athletes Moses Tanaka and Abed Mapingure emerged as the standout performers at the recently held Kwekwe Sports Festival, delivering an impressive display of strength, conditioning, and stage presence that earned them top honours in the event's bodybuilding and fitness challenges.

The annual festival, hosted at Sanja on the Deck Complex in Kwekwe, attracted athletes from across the Midlands and beyond, competing in various sporting disciplines.

Among the highlights were the highly anticipated Bodybuilding and Strength Challenges, which tested competitors in categories demanding a combination of physique, strength, endurance, and presentation.

Representing Energym Fitness Club of Kadoma under the leadership of director Stanlake Kapeta, Tanaka and Mapingure proved a class above the rest.

Tanaka powered his way to first place in the Men's Fitness Challenge, impressing judges with his conditioning, athleticism, and stage performance.

Meanwhile, Mapingure showcased exceptional physique and presentation skills to secure second place in both the Jeans Model and Bermuda Model categories, earning back-to-back podium finishes against a competitive field.

Their achievements underscored the growing reputation of Energym Fitness Club as a breeding ground for fitness excellence in the Midlands.

Speaking after their successful outing, the athletes said the victories represented more than personal achievements.

"The trophies we won in Kwekwe were a great achievement and a proud moment for us as Energym Fitness Club. They reflect the dedication, teamwork and hard work of our athletes," they said.

"Participating in the Kwekwe Sports Festival gave us an opportunity to showcase our talent, strength and discipline.

“Winning medals was not only a personal victory but also a victory for Kadoma and everyone who supports fitness and sport in our community."

The duo thanked their supporters and pledged to continue striving for greater success.

"This achievement motivates us to train even harder and continue representing Energym Fitness Club with pride," they said.

They also encouraged aspiring bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts to remain committed to their goals.

"Fitness is a journey that requires patience, discipline and consistency. Results do not come overnight, but with hard work, commitment and the right guidance, everyone can improve.

“Every champion starts as a beginner. Stay focused, trust the process and believe in yourself."

Tanaka and Mapingure appealed for sponsorship and support from the corporate sector and the wider community as they pursued national and international ambitions.

"We appeal to the corporate world, community leaders and individuals to support our journey as we strive to become national and even world champions while proudly representing Kadoma," they said.

Kapeta praised the athletes for their outstanding performances and urged them to remain focused on future success.

"Moses and Abed have put Kadoma and Energym Fitness Club on the map. I encourage them to continue working hard and bringing more trophies home. This is only the beginning," he said.

Kapeta also extended an invitation to aspiring athletes to join the club.

"At Energym, we build champions through discipline, structure and belief. We welcome anyone who wants to be part of a winning team."

Beyond the medals and trophies, the duo's success has generated excitement within the region's growing fitness community.

Their performances have inspired younger athletes and reinforced the Midlands' status as an emerging centre for competitive bodybuilding and fitness.

By claiming top honours and displaying remarkable consistency across multiple categories, Tanaka and Mapingure did more than win medals — they established a new standard of excellence.

With national and international ambitions firmly in sight, the Kadoma pair are proving that the city is capable of producing champions ready to compete on the biggest stages.
