Bon Marche tees off for Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home

Over 150 golfers took part in the event which has become a beacon of hope for children-based not for profit organizations.

Bulawayo-based Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home are this year’s beneficiaries of the OK Zimbabwe’s Bon Marche’ Annual Golf Day which took place at the Royal Harare Golf Club on Friday.

Over 150 golfers took part in the event which has become a beacon of hope for children-based not for profit organizations.

Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home is the third such organization to benefit from OK Zimbabwe's up-market store brand annual golf initiative in the past three years after Shungu Dzevana in 2022 and St Giles Rehabilitation Centre last year.

“The event was designated as a charity golf tournament aimed at raising funds for Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home in Bulawayo. The event was an exciting day of networking and philanthropy, which brought together various stakeholders and supplier partners who are committed to make a positive impact in the community,” OK Zimbabwe marketing director, Stanley Meck said.

“The home was adopted as the Group’s Corporate Social Investment beneficiary for the year 2024 and is set to benefit from a number of planned fundraising activities, community engagement programs and resource allocation efforts aimed at improving the living conditions and educational opportunities for the children residing in the home. The home focuses on creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive despite their challenging backgrounds.

“Funds raised during the Bon Marche’ Annual Golf Day will directly contribute to the running costs of the home, including food, education, healthcare and recreational activities for the children. This act of kindness is deeply rooted in the Group’s core values and purpose to make happiness tangible by planting smiles on its employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders and the communities we operate in. The Group supports community-based initiatives in the areas of health and wellness, education and environmental preservation.

“This year’s event has garnered significant support from numerous stakeholders and supplier partners who have generously contributed to the Charity Golf event. These partnerships not only enhance the fundraising efforts but also demonstrate a collective commitment to corporate social investment within the community,” Meck said.

Over US$10 000 in cash and kind was raised for Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home on Friday while the organization received a brand new NP200 vehicle in June.

Emthunzini Wethemba Children’s Home is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, education and essential care to vulnerable children who are orphaned or abandoned due to various circumstances.

Established in 1992, the home has been a beacon of hope for these children for over two decades.
