Two men from Bindura appeared in court last week after they were caught in possession of various dangerous drugs.

Angeline Matesanwa and Pamela Chamanyonga are facing two charges of dealing in dangerous drugs and an additional count of illegally possession of an assortment of addictive cough syrups.

Prosecutors alleged that detectives from CID Bindura received information to the effect that the duo was dealing in dangerous drugs and had recently received a large consignment. They proceeded to the accused persons’ residence where they recovered a large cache of drugs consisting of 5,3kgs of prepared and packaged dagga and 431 sachets of package crystal meth.

They also recovered two big sachets of crystal meth, 225 bottles of broncleer, 31 bottles of Benyline, 10 bottles of Stilpaine and 36 bottles of Astrapain cough syrup.

Detectives also recovered approximately 60 cigarette lighters stashed together with the drugs.

The recovery of the drugs was not without drama as the court heard that the accused persons refused to open their house for detectives, only to open after reinforcements from ZRP Chiwaridzo. They will be back in court this week.
