Gweru youth entrepreneur Sitholokuhle Dube has been honoured as one of the 50 Pan African change-makers for 2023 at the 8th Pan African Humanitarian and Investment summit recently held in Dakar, Senegal.
Dube was awarded the Youth and Community Impact Championship Development Award by the Pan African Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (Paledec).
She also received an entrepreneurship award together with 19 other youthful entrepreneurs drawn from across the continent.
Organisers said Dube, who is a director of Continental Plazas, a chain of retail shops in the Midlands capital, contributed positively to the achievement of a prosperous Africa.
“This is to certify that the governing council of the Pan African Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development Centre has approved recognition of Sitholokuhle Dube as a pan-African change-makers of 2023 under the Youth and Community Impact Champion category at the 8th pan African Humanitarian and Investment summit in Dakar for her transformative contributions to driving positive change and fostering a prosperous Africa,” Paledec said in a statement.
The summit ran under the theme Driving Positive Change and Fostering Prosperity in Africa.
In an interview with NewsDay, Dube, who also runs a grocery and cosmetics shop, in Gweru said her parents motivated her to venture into business.
“I am grateful for their support and encouragement which has inspired and motivated me to contribute to the growth of our national economy and the region as a whole,” Dube said.
Dube is one of the directors at property developer River Valley Group where her parents Mncedisi and Smelly Dube are chairman and chief executive, respectively.
