Mpilo doctors’ quarters rehab complete

Mpilo Central Hospital doctors' quarters

GOVERNMENT has completed the rehabilitation of Mpilo Central Hospital doctors' quarters that were razed by fire last year.

Ministry of Health and Child Care secretary Jasper Chimedza told Southern Eye yesterday that the hostels would be commissioned this month.

The doctors’ quarters were gutted by a fire that broke out in the middle of the night on May 26, 2021, leaving 39 health workers homeless.

“Rehabilitation of the doctors’ quarters has been completed and commissioning will be the next stage before year-end,”Chimedza said.

The rehabilitation process, costing $5,2 million, saw Mpilo Central Hospital getting a fully furnished 35-bed ward and borehole installation last year.
