POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested three suspects who allegedly raped three juveniles aged between five and 15 years on different occasions between September 13 and 15.

Confirming the incidents, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said: “The first case occurred on September 13 around 7pm in Nketa, and the victim is seven years old, while the suspect is aged 15 and is a co-tenant with the victim. She was sent by her aunt to get a cooking stick from the house while she was cooking outside. The victim was then raped by the suspect.”

The child took long to return to the aunt and was questioned about her delay. It was later found out that it was not the first time that the juvenile had been raped by the suspect, after a similar incident occurred in August.

The juvenile offender has since been arrested.

“In the second case that happened on September 14 around 12pm in New Lobengula, the victim is a juvenile aged five years, while the accused is a neighbour aged 51.

“The juvenile suddenly disappeared from her mother’s presence and after 40 minutes she was seen coming out of the suspect’s house,” Ncube said.

He said the suspect had since been arrested.

“In another case that occurred on September 15 around 1pm in Luveve, the victim was a 15-year-old juvenile, while the suspect is 35 years old. He picked the victim in a taxi from her place of residence. They consumed alcohol and thereafter the suspect forced the juvenile to have sex with him. After the rape, he drove her back to her place of residence,” Ncube said, adding that the suspect had since been arrested.
