TRAILBLAZING Zimbabwean businessman Bevan Makaka has been appointed to the prestigious Iconic Council, a distinguished body that guides Iconic International Holdings (Pty) Limited.
The appointment was announced at the Iconic Global Summit & Honours 2025, held in Sandton, South Africa, in partnership with the Mayorkings Charity Foundation.
The summit brought together influential leaders from across the continent under the theme “The Africa We Want: Sustainable Development; Everyone’s Responsibility.”
Makaka, a serial entrepreneur, philanthropist and IT expert, joins an elite group of leaders and specialists driving business growth, innovation and social transformation across Africa.
His elevation follows a standout performance at the summit, where he was recognised for his contributions to sustainable development.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was a stirring call to action by former South African cabinet minister Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, who urged Africa to rise with intention, unity and ownership of its development agenda.
Describing the summit as transformative, Makaka said it had become a powerful launch pad for global influence.
“It’s a clarion call to action, echoing a shared belief that Africa’s transformation is not a dream, but a responsibility. And it begins now,” he said.
