Mandizha Plaza adds value to Bindura

Residents of Bindura rural’s Chirikadzi village in Ward 9 are celebrating the opening of Mandizha Plaza, a development they say has brought new life and convenience to the area.

Owned by United Kingdom-based businessman Tafadzwa Mandizha and his wife, Samantha, Mandizha Plaza has quickly become one of the most striking developments in Mashonaland Central province.

The modern double-storey complex was transformed from a former council bar that had stood dilapidated for 34 years.

Speaking at the plaza on Christmas Day, where he hosted a community celebration supported by musicians Sulumani Chimbetu, Jah Signal and DJ Phatchild, Mandizha said his vision was to give back to his home community through sustainable investment.

“I have been in the UK since 1999, and the best I can do for my country and my community is to invest back home. That is why we built this one-stop shop here,” he said.

Mandizha Plaza houses a butchery, a general dealer, a sports bar and an upstairs VIP lounge, providing residents with a range of services under one roof.

“So far, we have a butchery, a shop, a sports bar and a VIP lounge upstairs to help our community access everything they need in one place,” he added.

Beyond business, Mandizha is also known for his philanthropic work in the area. Last year in April, he constructed an Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) church building in the same ward.

“I am a Christian and I believe in giving. That is why I built a church building for my congregation,” he said.

Mandizha also revealed plans to improve local infrastructure, including gravelling a road linking Manhenga Road and Chirikadzi village to improve transport services.

In education, he has donated school furniture and paid school fees for several pupils at Chireka Primary School in Bindura.

He is also sponsoring Chirikadzi Football Club, while his wife Samantha has expressed interest in supporting a netball team in the ward.

Management at Mandizha Plaza said the business has received overwhelming support from the local community and pledged to continue giving back.

“The support we are getting from the community is encouraging, and we remain committed to contributing to local development,” Mandizha said.
