Schools’ event at Mukuvisi woodlands

Environment
On October 1, close to 200 schoolchildren, teachers, supporters and volunteers will participate in a 5km March and Fun Day at Mukuvisi Woodlands, to raise funds for urgently needed refurbishment of the wetland Waterfowl Pond at the Woodlands, as well as for their own Environmental Clubs.

So far, 12 schools have signed up to take part. The project is also welcoming corporate input in return for visibility and at the event. The day is packed with adventure activities and contests, mostly to do with water, and the children will “Discover Mukuvisi” and learn about wildlife, while they compete and enjoy themselves, and win some prizes too. 25% of funds raised by each team will go back into the school’s own Environmental Club, and the day will also raise awareness of the Woodlands and environmental among the young people taking part. — By Rosie Mitchell
