All is set for the official launch of Brother in House Zimbabwe tonight in Harare, marking the beginning of the competitive phase of the country's home-grown reality television show following weeks of introducing viewers to the contestants and the unique concept behind the programme.
The launch ushers in a new era for the show, with organisers unveiling a purpose-built house, improved production quality, official house rules, weekly challenges, public voting and eliminations.
In a statement, the organisers said the show's opening phase was intentionally designed to observe contestants in a natural environment before introducing competition.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry deputy minister Tongai Mnangagwa is expected to be the guest of honour.
"The opening phase of Brother in House was never about competition. It was about observation. We deliberately placed our housemates in an environment that reflects the reality many Zimbabweans know... Character reveals itself when there are no scripts," the statement said.
The organisers said they had also responded to viewers' feedback by upgrading the cameras and audio systems to enhance the viewing experience.
They said Brother in House Zimbabwe is committed to promoting leadership, entrepreneurship, teamwork, innovation and Ubuntu rather than sensationalism.
"This is reality television with purpose. Brother in House is proudly Zimbabwean. Our identity is rooted in Ubuntu — the belief that I am because we are," the organisers said.
