All set for Kokota Festival

BULAWAYO is known for closely resembling Mzansi when it comes to lifestyle and entertainment. The relativity of Zulu language to Ndebele makes it even easier for a fusion of music across board.

“Amapiano” are not an exception either, the phenomenon has hit the city of kings like a virus so much that there is now a “Kokota” festival.

The festival is centred on the production, singing and dancing to Amapiano, a genre which has taken the world by storm.

The third edition of Kokota festival is slated for April 29 at The Mitre and will be hosted by Pardon Khaya and performances from Mlungu Omnyama, MPrince Beatz, DJ Jay Jones and Stormza are expected.

Standard Style caught up with the organising duo of producer and DJ Prince Muvirimi, popularly known as MPrince Beatz as well as Browny, born Mandla Moyo.

“We are excited and hoping people will come out in large numbers, good thing it will be the last weekend of April, which is all about groove in Bulawayo and bidding farewell to summer,” said Browny.

Browny, who is known for producing artistes like Msizkay and Mzistos Mfanafuthi, said it’s all about rehabilitating the youth.
