United Kingdom-based gospel diva Ivy Kombo-Kasi last weekend emerged a winner during this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe British Entertainment Awards (ZimBrits 2022).

The Nguva Yakwana singer was voted as the Female Artist of The Year at a glamorous event held at Jury’s Inn Hinckeyland Island Hotel.

ZimBrits is an initiative to show appreciation to Zimbabweans who are in the UK Diaspora entertainment.

Kombo-Kasi won the award after resuming live performances and music recording after having been studying for a Masters Law degree in the UK.

The songstress told Standard Style that the award was a major boost following her comeback to the music scene.

“We are celebrating this particular award because, it is a fact that after having gone for studies for a very long time without attending to my music, I ended up going for years without that recognition,” she said.

“However, many times when that happens it’s rare that you can come back in that format, this is why I thank God for the recognition.”

She attributed her success to her husband-cum producer Admire Kasi, producer Macdonald Chidavaenzi, technical advisor Matt Mutanga and her fans.

Kombo-Kasi said she has been working hard after her return.

“But it’s the hard work that despite all these things that surround me, the Lord gave me Grace and also it is that recognition in another jurisdictions which is not necessarily the same as where I was getting my previous awards,” she said.

“A lot of talented people have risen , but I thank God that I am still in the game.”

She dropped her 14th album titled Mt Zion soon after her studies before recording a number of single tracks.
