Women empowerment academy opens doors in Chitungwiza

Known as an “Entrepreneur for Women Excellence”, Mbondiah Mandipaza said she was looking forward to partnerships.

Momentors Academy, an institution that provides job skills training and professional development for women and girls, has opened its doors at Makoni shopping centre in Chitungwiza.

The academy, the brain child of social entrepreneur and philanthropist Maureen Mbondiah Mandipaza, has started registering for courses including introduction to computers, baking, marketing, hairdressing and bridal makeup.

Other courses would include training in detergents, cleaning and liquid soap production, among other various programmes.

The training commenced yesterday at Vintage Shopping Mall at Makoni shopping centre.

“The purpose of Momentors Academy is to empower women and girls through comprehensive courses designed to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to establish and successfully manage their own businesses,” Mbondiah Mandipaza said.

“By fostering entrepreneurship, we aim to eradicate poverty by creating sustainable economic opportunities and fostering financial independence among women and girls, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and prosperous society.”

Mbondiah Mandipaza has received a number of global awards including the Outstanding Business Achievers Awards International 2021 and Outstanding Business Achievers Awards UK 2021, offered by Redlipstick Revolution, an organisation that empowers women. 

Locally, she was recently awarded the Distinguished Business Woman Award at the Zimbabwe Community Trailblazers Awards.
