Many aspects of life are currently equipped with modern technical devices and Zimbabwe’s very own, Edward Madongorere is one inventor making big moves in Texas, USA.

Through his electronics company founded in 2017, he has managed to attract prominent figures into investing in the company to ensure it expands globally.

Madongorere was born and raised in Zimbabwe and later relocated to the United States where he is leaving big footprints with his company, Moon Ultra, which specializes in making electronic devices that can be used by content creators and consumers alike.

The company announced through a press release on November 30 last year that it raised US$15 million through a series B funding round that included an expansive star-studded investment group of more than 20 investors across professional sports, entertainment, lifestyle and technology industries.

New investors that joined the company included self-proclaimed ‘African giant’-Burna Boy, multi-Grammy award-winning producer L.A. Reid and comedian Steve Harvey and his daughter Lori Harvey.

Other investors announced were Emmanuel Acho, 2x Emmy nominee, Ray Lewis, Super Bowl champion (MVP) and NBA All-Star guard, former NFL stars and host of Nice & Neat the Podcast; Omar Bolden and Super Bowl champion; Duke Ihenacho to mention just a few.

Madongorere and his team invented the Moon Ultra-Light, a device which mainly attracted the listed investors. The device has a sleek design which offers content creators a premium professional lighting experience virtually on any mobile device at the touch of a fingertip.

According to Madongorere, he was inspired to invent the Moon Ultra-Light by his son who lives with autism (a serious developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact). He also mentioned that the support rendered by the various investors will enable the company to expand globally.

“It is our mission to collaborate with the best individuals across various industries to showcase the power of our illuminating products and services at the ease of your fingertips," Madongorere said.

We are fortunate to have such an amazing group of sports and entertainment stars who understand the global need and desire to capture professionally lit content on their own, without the need for a photographer or videographer. We’ve exceeded our expectations and are growing internationally through the support of a phenomenal team of investors.”

Ray Lewis said he was attracted to investing in the company after he used the Moon Ultra-Light device.

“Moon Ultra eliminates the worry of trying to find the right area or best lighting to take a photo, It’s so clear and direct, I find myself actually smiling brighter because it shows your best features. I am super excited for this partnership,” said Lewis.

Larmone Morris, comedian and TV personality commented that using a Moon Ultra-Light was convenient given the world we are currently living in where one’s mobile device is used to do almost everything.

"I wanted to become an investor because this is innovative technology that caters to the world we live in. I do everything from my phone, including taking pictures. From managing low light situations to creating compelling content, people always ask me about it. And honestly, the product design is so cool,” said Morris.

Noah Beck added that the portability of the device was highly attractive and as an investor he was eager to be part of a company that makes products that he can also use.

“Moon ULTRA is great because it's so sleek and minimal. It's easy to carry around and attach to my phone, which has been helpful for making videos and taking photos at evening events and restaurants. I don't travel without it now. From an investor standpoint, I like to keep a mixed portfolio and consumer tech is something that I'm very interested in. I also want to invest in companies that make products I would personally use, and that are additive to a user's everyday life,” said Beck, actor and lifestyle influencer.”

As issued in the press statement the announcement of the investors will enable further development of the company's growing slate of products and distribution across the globe.

Previously, Moon Ultra was named one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2020. The company is boldly about storytelling, inclusivity and designing products that shine positivity on the world at an affordable price.
