DEFENDER Andrew Mbeba has extended his stay at Highlanders by another two years, ending speculation the Warriors defender was on the move.
Mbeba’s handlers last week said the defender would only commit to the Bulawayo giants if he was paid his outstanding signing-on fee and winning bonus and was offered a lucrative deal when his contract expires on December 31.
Ngezi Platinum Stars and FC Platinum were reported to be ready to pounce after the latter had already grabbed another Bosso defender Mbongeni Ndlovu, who is said to have signed a pre-contract with the Zvishavane-based side.
Highlanders confirmed through their social media handles that Mbeba would be at the Bulawayo giants for the next two years.
“On that note, Andrew ‘Tower’ Mbeba remains a Highlanders player until 2026. Unless he goes to Europe, of course, we will be celebrating the centenary with him,” the Bulawayo giants said.
Highlanders, established in 1926, celebrate 100 years of existence in 2026.
The club further stated that it is still engaging players who have their contracts expiring on December 31.
After appointing Zambian national Kelvin Kaindu as head coach, Highlanders said they were still working on the full technical bench, likely to be announced before the pre-season starts.

Some of the players that have their contracts expiring on December 31 include Ray Lunga, Rahman Kutsanzira, Brighton Manhire and Andrew Tandi.
Sources say Madinda Ndlovu would be named technical director with Bekithemba Ndlovu (defence), Johannes Ngodzo (midfield) and Joel Luphahla (strikers) as Kaindu’s assistants and Tembo Chuma bouncing back as goalkeepers’ coach and Abraham Mbaiwa fitness and conditioning coach.
