CHICKEN Inn have offloaded attacking midfielder Calum English-Brown who has re-joined Legends Football Academy after failing to make a mark at the GameCocks.

Chicken Inn head coach Prince Matore yesterday said the 22-year-old English-Brown, who also plays as a winger, was requested by his academy even after his contract was still running and the GameCocks agreed to let him go.

“English-Brown has gone back to Harare. He left two or three weeks back. The academy requested him to come back. He had a running contract with Chicken Inn but there was an agreement between the club and the academy because he did not fit into the Chicken Inn system although he is a good player. He tried his best but he has gone back to undergo further training, maybe he can improve,” Matore said.

English-Brown attracted interest from a number of clubs last year while playing for WhaWha but settled for Chicken Inn after the prisons’ side was relegated but he only played under 60 minutes for the GameCocks since the beginning of the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.

In 2017, English-Brown signed for Harare City but did not play for the first senior team, playing in the Under-20 side and also played for Herentals Under-20 side in the Zifa Northern Region Division One.

English-Brown also played for a German lower division side FC Eintracht Norderstedt 03 having been a member of the Under-17 Young Warriors squad that represented the country at the Cosafa tournament in Mauritius in 2017.

Meanwhile, the GameCocks are heading to Bata Stadium tomorrow where they face Black Rhinos, who are confident following a mid-week victory over FC Platinum at Mandava.

Chicken Inn are in position six with 43 points and are within the chasing pack for the league title.
