Women in Business network promotes excellence

A meeting convened by Empowered Women in Harare

Empowered Women, a progressive network of diverse women drawn from various sectors of the economy, has called for excellence and productivity as it seeks to empower it’s membership towards a viable and productive business operations.

Speaking at a women’s gathering held yesterday morning at Utano Gardens in Avondale, the organisation’s founder and coordinator Sibonokuhle Buhlungu said they were calling on members to give their all towards viable and sustainable business operations.

“Empowered Women is made up of champion women drawn from various sectors of the economy,” she said.

“The goal is to share experiences and ideas at the same time inspiring each other to be the best in our areas of interest.”

Buhlungu said a world where women entrepreneurs can excel is possible and it starts with positive networking and growing whatever interests they are pursuing.

“We want to grow a hub that becomes a gateway to the success of all the women that form our membership,” she said.

“We want all the progressive women to get the necessary support towards self actualisation and I believe with the ongoing coordination we will achieve our goals.”

One of the speakers Lorraine Nyawa, a marketer and business strategist, encouraged women to tap into the the opportunities brought by marketing and the digital space.

“Every business must invest in marketing especially riding on the advent of the digital space,” Nyawa said.

“The opportunities are endless and with the right mindset and approach we will achieve our goals in business.”

Other speakers, who included people development expert Faith Nyamukapa, entrepreneur Primrose Chakuchichi, Women’s Bank and other champion businesswomen encouraged the women to rise to the occasion and utilise available opportunities.

The Women’s Bank also shared on flexible capitalisation and loan opportunities for women in business highlighting that women should not stop chasing their dreams.

As of now, the fast growing Empowered Women has empowered 15 women with stands, 15 women have since registered their companies and seven women have bought cars, thanks to the inspiration and business nurturing they are getting.

The progressive network also used yesterday’s event to hand over cars, delivery bikes, fridges, company certificates and passports to women in business as a way to empower them to excel.

Topics covered during presentations included setting the scene, education tools to success, beauty for ashes, business inspiration, projecting women assets, practical skills to business, keeping Strong, eagle's eye, organisation building and patience.

Empowered Women group will be hosting a high tea event next month as they explore further waya to empower their membership.

“We have a high tea event coming this July and we encourage all progressive women to register for this,” Buhlungu said.

“We are also planning on a business trip to Rwanda during the course of the year and we are super excited about the future.”
