ONE of the fastest growing borehole drilling companies Skylake recently launched its state-of-the-art offices in Harare’s Eastlea suburb.
Specialising in borehole drilling and installation, the company integrates quality and high expertise seamlessly for borehole drilling industry.
With a growing team of water architects, engineers and operational professionals, Skylake Boreholes’s mission is to revolutionise the borehole drilling services through its pioneering use of research-driven expertise and digital innovation.
Through its new offices, the company looks to offer one-service-stop solutions for borehole drilling requirements.
Addressing guests at the launch, Skylake CEO Tatenda Samukange chronicled how he started the borehole drilling business.
“I know I owe a lot of people answers as to how I started my business,” Samukange said.
“So, this is what happened. When I was 21 years old, I used to do car dealerships hustling in the streets and enjoyed the little money that I was getting.

“It was during this time that I met a friend who was already in the borehole drilling industry.
“He used to engage me when doing his job and I found out that I was good in sales marketing for borehole drilling.”
Samukange added: “This is when I started having clients and hiring machines from someone who at times used to inconvenience me because it was his equipment after all.”
“This gave me power to work hard to have my own machines. After saving for three years in 2017, I managed to buy my first rack. It is since then everything started to flow and I thank God for that.”
The 26-year-old CEO said the state-of-the-art offices were just a beginning as his main vision was taking a growth trajectory which will see the company creating more jobs.
“The Harare office is the heart of an integral part for the borehole drilling company,” said Samukange.
“With the official launch of our new state-of-the-art offices in Harare, the company is planning to offer an even wider range of quality drilling services to our existing and prospective clients.
“Although we have other branches in Mutare, our Harare office seeks to demonstrate our commitment to client service excellence, true collaboration and meaningful partnerships with our existing and prospective clients across the whole nation.”
Skylake marketing manager Curtly Gwindi said the company was founded on professional principles that has earned it a positive national identity.

The launch was graced by different entrepreneurs and artistes including BancABC CEO Lance Mambondiani, comedienne Madam Boss, Jah Prayzah and socialite Pokello Nare, among others.
Mambondiani applauded Samukange for a job well done and challenged youths to be innovative and create jobs for themselves.
“A lot of young people are doing great things out there like what Tatenda has done,” he said.
“I am personally happy when young people succeed because age is not a barrier. It pains me that we have a lot of unfocused youths out there. It’s high time we have young people who are innovative.”
Skylake donated boreholes to Wilkins and Beatrice Infectious Hospitals when Covid 19 was at its peak in Zimbabwe that saw President Emmerson Mnangagwa applauding the kind gesture and national solidarity in the midst of a crisis.
