FCP in double blow

Coach Norman Mapeza confirmed that Ngwenya has been ruled out for four weeks owing to a fracture on his right leg, which the striker sustained in the team’s season opener against Chegutu Pirates.

FC PLATINUM have been dealt a major blow after losing two key players ahead of their crucial Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against champions Ngezi Platinum Stars at the Baobab Stadium tomorrow.

The former champions will be without striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya and midfielder Juan Mutudza.

Coach Norman Mapeza confirmed that Ngwenya has been ruled out for four weeks owing to a fracture on his right leg, which the striker sustained in the team’s season opener against Chegutu Pirates.

Mutudza is away this week due to a family bereavement.

Mapeza, who was appointed the interim Warriors coach, is anticipating a tough trip to Ngezi after the fellow platinum miners were held to a goalless draw by newbies Arenel Movers.

“It’s going to be a difficult game. They are the reigning champions, so it’s not going to be easy especially that we are going to play at their homeground,” Mapeza said.

“But it’s a game of football, we have done our homework to look around for information on how they are playing and stuff like that.

“They had a very good game against Arenel, unfortunately it was a draw. But from what I heard, they played well, so it’s not going to be easy but at the end it’s about the mentality.”

Despite the absence of key players, Mapeza remains positive as he primes his team to go out and collect maximum points.

“We have to go out there with a positive mindset.

“I hope every goes well for us. We cannot rely much on statistics, what is important is our readiness for this match. This is just the second game of the season, there are three points at stake.”

FC Platinum got off to a good start with a 1-0 win over Chegutu Pirates and will be hoping to maintain a perfect record.
