Saturday and Sunday
This is a special weekend for all amateur golfers throughout the country. It is a weekend during which all golf clubs are staging a tournament at the end of which they would know who is the real champion at each club.
The format of the game is medal. At various clubs there are various divisions which are created hence there will be divisions’ champions too.
However, there is only one overall champion for the club who will have come up with the lowest gross score over 36 holes.
There is a lot of preparation which golfers put into this. Defending champions will be under great pressure from challengers who are normally in an uncompromising mood.
Whether the defending champions will stand the pressure is anyone’s guess. What is certain is that by the end of day tomorrow we will know who the country’s clubs’ champions are.

There are normally many good prizes which are set aside by the clubs for this event. So all is not lost for those who will not make it for the top position as there will be other prizes which will be at stake. It is a day many golfers look forward to.
Friday 13 next week is also a special day for junior golf. The Zimbabwe Junior Golf Association is organising a fund-raising golf tournament under the Zimbwe Junior Golf Fund Raiser 2011.
It will be held at Chapman Golf Club. The future of any sport is in its juniors. It is therefore a worthy cause.
Funds raised will assist in meeting the association’s operating costs in running the association, particular emphasis being put on travelling, accommodation and general expenses for the juniors when they are on international tours.
There is need to expose our juniors to international tournaments. On a number of occasions the association has failed to send juniors outside the country due to lack of funds.
The association is therefore appealing for your contribution towards this cause.
