NIGERIAN football scout Obinna Joseph Onyeaghala arrived in Zimbabwe yesterday, the first of two international scouts set to assess young Zimbabwean talent at the Total Football International Showcase 2026, running from July 4 to 11 in Harare.

Malaysian Fifa-accredited agent Akash Ashraf Bin Abdullah is expected to arrive tomorrow morning to complete the scouting line-up for the week-long event, organised by Total Football Academy.

The showcase has also received official clearance from the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa), removing the final hurdle to its staging.

In a letter to Total Football Academy director Tatenda Madzingo, Zifa’s acting general secretary Mike Madoda confirmed the association had granted clearance for the talent identification and scouting event, citing a shared interest in capacity building and opening legitimate opportunities for local football activities.

The event will feature separate categories for junior players aged 13 to 17 and senior players aged 18 to 22, with talent identification matches, player assessments, technical evaluations and direct interactions with the visiting scouts.

Total Football Academy said preparations for the showcase were now complete following the scouts’ confirmed travel arrangements and Zifa’s approval, and wished participating players well as they prepare to display their abilities in front of the international assessors.
