Bulawayo-BORN Afro-fusion artiste Mongameli Nkomo, popularly known as MaFevuke Intemnyama, is set to shake up the local music scene with his newly-released album Umdlalo Wezingqwele, a rich, soulful project that blends originality, rhythm and cultural pride. 

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, MaFevuke Intemnyama said the project was deeply personal and was shaped by his musical journey. 

“I play my own guitar and I worked with a seasoned veteran on backing vocals; the sound is my unique style," he said. 

The 10-track album, Umdlalo Wezingqwele, translated as the game of champions, has already sparked interest among fans. 

The artiste said the album offered a professional and refined sound.  

“People have been waiting for this; it's deep, well-crafted and they won’t be disappointed,” he said, adding that he was inspired by the “GPS of fame”, a metaphor for purpose and direction in the industry.

“This GPS is what pushed me to put together an album filled with diverse songs.” 

The musician believes his music will resonate with a broad audience. 

“Even an old lady leaning on a walking stick will end up dancing,” he joked. 

The album was released out of love and passion, hoping to bring joy to listeners as the year begins.  

“We will celebrate together when I perform it live,” the musician said. 

A promotional tour is set to begin this month.
