HARARE magistrate Barbara Mateko on Wednesday exonerated three MDC Alliance activists, Terrence Manjengwa, Blessed Changara and Barnabas Gura, on charges of breaching COVID-19 regulations.

The trio, acquainted to Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala, was arrested on September 3 last year and charged with inciting the public to participate in the foiled July 31, 2020 protests.

But on Wednesday, Mateko upheld the trio’s application for exception and quashed the charge of violating COVID-19 regulations. The three will return to court on June 25, where their trial on charges of possession of offensive weapons is scheduled to commence.
