Divine insight: Does salt work against evil spirits?

Salt is usually used to ward off evil spirits, and is commonly used under doors, beds or even around houses. Those that practise these things don’t understand why they put the salt under the bed or its spiritual meaning, they just know it works. But they don’t know the how part. A question is then raised, can I as a Christian use salt and does it work for me or against me?

Jesus speaking to his disciples said we are salt of the earth, Matthew 5:13. But what properties does salt carry that we as the church are blinded to that can ward off demons. Did you know that the same way God is the light of the world, He is also the salt of the earth? So, when demons see salt, they see traits of God’s nature or character in that salt.

The question that then arises in many minds is what part of God do demons see when they see salt? If we as the church understand what demons see then we can manifest our saltness at a greater level, I believe when we discover the part of God salt represents, we can be able to really function as salt of the earth.

To understand salt, you must look for other places salt is mentioned in the bible. Every meal offering was to be seasoned with salt (Leviticus 2 verse 13). The salt in the sacrifice represented a covenant between God and man. Another incident that we see salt is when Lot’s wife became salt. Many wonder what could she have seen that would have made her to become a pillar of salt. The bible says in the book of 2 Corinthians 3 verse 18, But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord, (KJV). Whatever part of God we see, we become, so when Lot’s wife looked at Sodom, she saw God as the part that represented salt.

When God came into Sodom with his angels, he came to judge Sodom for their sin so could it be Lot’s wife saw God as a judge, that would then explain why it seems demons are warded off by salt. Could it that when Jesus said you are the salt of the earth He was saying walk as judges among man. Salt is the part of God that represents his judgements and his covenant. But in the New Testament Jesus said become the salt, when you take the form of salt in your home or workplace demons are automatically warded off, but in the kingdom of God anything you don’t have revelation of does not work properly for you. Salt does work, but there is a higher level of being the salt. When a Christian understands the nature of salt, he is able to live as a judge executing God’s judgements in his community and home. The bible carries another story in which a prophet healed the water of a whole city by putting salt into the bitter water which caused barrenness in that city. Because the water was bitter, the city was unproductive but a single cruise of salt made an unproductive city productive. If you manifest your saltness, you can change the state of your nation, home or ministry. As the salt of the earth that situation over your nation can change and those demons tormenting others in your home can be warded off.

You can use physical salt but it’s limited, you need to become salt. Remember the same way God is light, he is also salt and to take up his nature as salt is through knowledge. The just are delivered through knowledge. God bless you
