Soon after appointing Maarten Stekelenburg as new head coach, Ajax Cape Town have offered Wilfred Mugeyi another contract as assistant coach.

Mugeyi has now extended his stay with the Urban Warriors for another three years.

“This club is now like my home — I played here for three or four years and have now been assistant coach for almost four years. I am very happy that the club has shown faith in my abilities by offering me another contract,” he said.

Mugeyi also praised his bosses at Ajax for appointing Stekelenburg.

“It’s a good idea because it shows continuity as he has been with the club’s youth development. I have had a great relationship with him.”

Ajax is also home to Zimbabwean players Khama Billiat, Tafadzwa Rusike and Willard Katsande.
