Fireworks are expected this weekend when 20 boys and girls schools converge in the capital for the National Association of Secondary Heads (Nash) Top Schools Basketball tournament.
The games are set for Saturday and Sunday at Queen Elizabeth and Girls’ High School.
This annual event is one of the largest on the schools sporting calendar and will feature schools from all the 10 provinces.
Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) director of competitions Simon Lawson told NewsDay Sport:
“Initially the tournament had been slated for last week before it was moved to this weekend and I can confirm that everything is now on course and all the teams who are expected to take part have now confirmed their participation.
“A total of 24 teams comprising the winning schools from the country’s 10 provinces, the defending champions Mutare Boys’ High and Roosevelt, and the hosts will be represented at the tournament.”

Mutare Boys’ High and Roosevelt won last year’s edition of the tournament hosted at Northlea High School in Bulawayo.
Prince Edward and Queen Elizabeth won the qualifiers this year from Harare and will be joined by runners-up Churchill and hosts Girls’ High to make up the four teams representing the province.
