The Soccer Coaches’ Union of Zimbabwe (Scuz) president Moses Chunga said he is concerned with the welfare of coaches and he will soon roll out a housing scheme for their benefit.
Speaking after the match between Northern-based coaches and their Manicaland-based counterparts at Sakubva Stadium on Saturday, Chunga said he was very happy with the response of coaches in the eastern border city as they came in their numbers.
“Today was a good day. I am very happy with the response of coaches from Manicaland who attended this session in their numbers. This is encouraging.
“We have successfully come up with the health policy to cover coaches in the coming months. From that, we are embarking on the housing scheme. By 2020, we should make it a point that our affiliates own houses,” he said.
“We are hoping we will continue to grow from strength to strength and we are on a national tour to get views from coaches around the country. Today (Saturday) we started with a meeting at Sports Café with local coaches and their Northern counterparts to discuss issues to do with running this organisation,” he added.
Former Dynamos player Masimba Dinyero said the union had direction and he hoped they would make clubs honour contracts with their coaches.

“The welfare of coaches will be fully honoured if we continue to work together as shown today. “The pace with which Scuz is moving is very impressive. This shows it has direction and we are expecting more progress in the near future” said Dinyero.
