Just a day after the future of some Zimbabwean players at South African side Mamelodi Sundowns were thrown into doubt, their compatriots at Kaizer Chiefs could also be headed for the exit door after the club announced yesterday that it would be offloading 10 players.
Kaizer Chiefs have made their intentions on wanting to reinforce their squad for the new season very clear.
With the Soweto giants aiming to bring in six new faces, the club’s management will be looking at releasing around 10 players in order to make space for the new signings.
Chiefs’ football manager, Bobby Motaung, told Soccer Laduma yesterday that they have already identified the players who they intend on releasing at the end of the season, however, he would not divulge their identity.
He said that they had not yet communicated their intentions to the players in question and will need to speak to them first.
“I cannot confirm the list of the players at the moment because we have to sit down with them and tell them that we are placing them on transfer or releasing them.

“We are also going to sign six new players to beef up the squad and we have to do it in the right way so that we have a balance in the team,” Motaung explained.
However, a Soccer-Laduma source close to the dealings at the club informed the crew that some of the players that will be released include Kabelo Metsimetsi, Thela Ngobeni, Steve Ncanana, Lucky Khune and Dominic Mateba.
Youthful Zimbabwean international Amidu Abbas could be loaned to another club after failing to break into the side during the current campaign.
