Conway College scooped gold after edging Prince Edward 2-1 in the national high schools soccer and basketball tournament, attended by 18 schools from all over the country, at the weekend.

The two-day tournament, organised by Kudakwashe Zvinavashe, Conway sports director, was held at Conway College, situated along Lomagundi Road.

Girls’ High of Harare were victors in the basketball discipline where they lifted gold while the hosts walked away with silver.

The event was officially opened by Zvimba District Education officer Gabriel Mhumha who showered praises for organisers of the tournament.

“I am thrilled this tournament took place in my district. Conway College has made us proud, and parents who are serious with their children must send them here. They will never go wrong,” Mhumha said. The college head Gedion Sadazi said he was happy his six-year-old school had achieved what other schools had failed to do in 50 years of existence and hoped that would attract more participants next year.
