Former Zimbabwe Warriors interim coach Baltemar Brito is willing to return to the national team if the conditions are right, with the Portuguese coach indicating that he is available to take charge of the side again.
Brito, who guided the Warriors to draws against Rwanda and Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, is ready to return to Zimbabwe should the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) feel he can add value to the national team.
According to correspondence seen by NewsDay Sport, Brito said he misses Zimbabwe and would be available to work with the Warriors, depending on “an agreement on one or two things.”
Should an agreement be reached, Brito is also willing to work alongside current interim coach Kaitano Tembo, potentially taking up the head coach's role with Tembo as his assistant.
Brito's previous stint with the Warriors came under the ZIFA Normalisation Committee, which engaged him on an interim basis. He oversaw two World Cup qualifiers, guiding Zimbabwe to draws against Rwanda and Nigeria.
Both matches were played in Rwanda. The encounter against Nigeria was officially a Zimbabwe home fixture, but had to be staged in Rwanda because the country did not have a stadium that met international standards for hosting the match.

Brito's willingness to return comes as ZIFA continues its search for a substantive Warriors coach ahead of the start of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Warriors have been without a permanent coach since the resignation of Marian Marinica three months ago.
Although reports suggest ZIFA have settled on Spain-based Ramon Catala, a renowned fitness trainer, there has been no official communication from the football governing body confirming his appointment.
For now, therefore, Tembo remains in charge of the Warriors on an interim basis, while Brito's potential return could provide another option for ZIFA as they seek to stabilise the national team ahead of the next major assignment.
