TELONE have booked a mouth-watering Chibuku Super Cup last-16 showdown with defending champions Dynamos after edging Triangle United 5-3 on penalties following a goalless draw at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane yesterday.
The Gweru-based side held their nerve from the penalty spot to keep alive their hopes of a memorable cup run and earn the daunting assignment against a Dynamos side chasing an unprecedented fourth consecutive Chibuku Super Cup crown.
After 90 minutes failed to produce a goal, TelOne were flawless in the shootout, converting all five of their spot-kicks while Triangle faltered, allowing the Wi-Fi Boys to progress to the first round proper of Zimbabwe's premier knockout competition.
The victory sets up one of the standout ties of the last 16, with Dynamos beginning their quest to further cement their status as the kings of the Chibuku Super Cup.
At Ngoni Stadium in Norton, Premier Soccer League debutants AGAMA marked their first appearance in the competition by beating struggling Manica Diamonds 5-4 on penalties after another goalless stalemate.
The victory earned the newcomers a last-16 date with high-flying MWOS.

The last-16 fixtures were determined during Tuesday's draw in Harare, with the preliminary winners completing the bracket.
Dynamos will now host TelOne in what promises to be a fascinating contest, while AGAMA will travel to face high-flying MWOS.
Elsewhere, the draw also produced several heavyweight encounters.
Former champions FC Platinum will take on reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland in a fixture that carries added intrigue, with Scottland coached by former FC Platinum mentor Norman Mapeza.
Traditional rivals Caps United and Simba Bhora will also meet in another headline fixture, while Bulawayo rivals Highlanders and Chicken Inn renew their derby rivalry.
The seeded clubs, which finished in the top eight after Matchday 17 of the league season, will enjoy home advantage in the last 16.
The quarter-finals are scheduled for September 12 and 13, with the semi-finals set for October 31 and November 1.
The final will be played on November 28, with the winners receiving US$75 000 and potentially securing a place in continental competition.
